TikTok won't be the king of content generation forever.

If several decades of internet culture have taught us anything, it's that no one platform can enjoy an eternal moment in the sun. The place gets oversaturated, the service it provides gets worse, and people decide that it is time they moved on to better things.

It could be argued that this might be what happens with TikTok in the near future. Protesting the ethically dubious change in ownership recently undergone by the US entity of the clock app, many TikTokers have protested by trying to find an alternative, of which the most popular has been UpScrolled. Perhaps a turning point is finally here.

That being said, it is not like the impact and influence of TikTok has disappeared overnight. We are still in thrall to all of the wild shenanigans, dumb takes, and generally entertaining goings-on of this place that has dominated the discourse for the best part of the decade. Thousands continue to post on there every day, and a fair amount of these posts translate to the wider internet, where everybody plays a part in their digestion.
For those who are too easily taken in by the temptation of the For You page, it may be best to stick to whatever clock app tidbits escape containment. Some of them can be found here, and they provide us with a true variety of things to gawp at. TikTok has some life in it yet, controversy or no controversy.
